47. DEBBIE TIPUNA
Debbie Tipuna has a quirky studio and gallery in Maungatapu where she produces two styles of work.
An award-winning children's picture book author and illustrator, Debbie has also won awards for her contemporary art and multi-media craft works, including a three-month artists residency in Irsina, Italy. Debbie’s more illustrative paintings champion the birds and flowers of Aotearoa, often with little children along for the ride.
Her conceptual art celebrates the collision of Pākehā and Māori cultures through imaginative visual narratives. Her work is crisp and delicate with vibrant colour and considered forms. The exacting detail and simple beauty of her work is only achieved with time, small brushes and her preferred medium, gouache paints.

48. FRITH ARTS
With a keen interest in carving, Marlene experimented with different mediums until discovering the unique and exciting form of gourds, each grown in their own organic shape.
Planting a gourd seed, to harvest and then drying takes a full year and that is just the beginning. Marlene then starts the process which she calls Inzentation.
Utilising her drawing and carving skills and adding colour and sometimes other natural fibres, Marlene creates intricate and unique pieces of sculptural art. Each one off piece has hidden images within, that are interpreted differently by each viewer.

49. GRAHAM CROW
Graham refers to his paintings as wall works - they involve making, from the substrate and backing frames, to the surface which is made up of many layers of acrylic mediums, taking some time to achieve the desired finish. The works can be hung in different ways, each hanging position offering an alternative light and tonal aspect. The works are abstract and open to personal interpretation.

50. HEATHER PERRING
Heather is a landscape painter working in oils, acrylics and pastels. Heather's art is primarily a celebration of nature's power and beauty, and our connection to it. Through her use of vibrant colors, expressive brushwork and tonal contrast, her work portrays both the scale and energy of land and water. She aims to stir in the viewer feelings of excitement, wonder, appreciation and inner peace that nature so masterfully delivers.
Being a qualified Geographer /Planner by day, a secondary theme of Heather's work explores the human relationship with the natural environment, and seeks to document how we have sought to tame nature. These works are embued with visual clues that nature in the end is more enduring and powerful.
