22. KATJA POTT
Abstract art gives Katja enormous freedom to tell stories about her life in Germany, Alice Springs, and Tauranga. These narratives explore people, love, one's inner life and what we take with us from the different worlds we inhabit. The abstract nature of her work also allows the viewer to create their own stories within hers.
Living between three countries encouraged Katja to examine feelings of displacement and homesickness within her work. Her fascination for medieval and Nordic culture is another form of inspiration.
Whilst Katja paints using pastel, oil and watercolour she also creates sculpture, photography, poetry and garments.
